THANK YOU

Elijah ran up the wooden stairs and unlocked the door. Jordan looked around like she had been put on another planet. She couldn’t believe how beautiful and elegant the property was. The cabin was surround by freshly manicured grass, and beautifully shaped stones in inspirational quotes from the road to the steps provided a path to the house. There was an eating area protected by a retractable awning on one end of the front porch, and patio furniture that consisted of a coffee table, loveseat and swing at the other end.

One by one Jordan ascended the stairs passing Elijah as he ran down them heading back to the car to get her bags. She stood on the front porch peaking her head inside the cabin.

“Oh my God!” she said placing her hand over her mouth.

Exquisite was an understatement. She had never seen something so beautifully put together. Every piece of furniture, every colored wall, every piece of art, accented the other. There wasn’t anything that didn’t fit or appeared to be out of place. It was hard to believe this was a cabin. It looked like a mansion.

“You can go in you know,” he said startling her.

She stepped inside. She was awestruck.

“This place is simply amazing,” she said still looking around.

“I told you you’d love it.”

“I do,” she replied as she ushered further into the cabin.

She looked down. Immediately she kicked off her shoes when she noticed the light colored carpet under her feet. The carper felt soft, almost like cotton. He feet would disappear sinking further into it with each step she took. She turned to her right. There was a spiral staircase leading to the upper level. The walls were decorated with modern art and tea light candleholders. The furniture was contemporary and expensive. She looked to the left. There was a brick faced fireplace with African American figurines on top of the mantle. She noticed the enclosed dining room separated from the living room by glass doors with brass trimming. She made her way into the kitchen and almost hit the floor. The color scheme of the kitchen was black and white. It had more cabinet and counter space than anyone should ever need. She approached the refrigerator. It had an icemaker and small television built in the doors. The stove was black with eight eyes and two ovens. A black microwave was attached to the cabinet above the stove. There was a white island in the middle with matching benches, a double stainless steel sink, dishwasher and countless other new aged appliances. Elijah stood in the doorway enjoying watching her become so amazed with everything.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?”

She turned to where the voice was coming from. It was in the doorway of another entrance to the kitchen.

“Wow!” she said smiling.

“Come here, let me show you something,” he said grabbing her hand.

He pulled out on the deck. There was a patio table with six chairs and fresh flowers inside a crystal vase sat in the middle of the table.
